The term Forest Bathing has been translated from the Japanese Practice of Shinrin-Yoku. The meaning of both is; 'to take in, or bathe in, the atmosphere of the Forest' Since its invention in Japan in the 1980's there are now volumes of scientific evidence proving that being in Nature has significant measurable benefits for both physical and mental health.
To summarise just a few of those, walking in Nature has been proven to lower heart rate and blood pressure and lower the stress hormone cortisol. It can encourage the release of oxytocin (the kindness hormone) and can generate a sense of belonging as we return to our true home and connect to something greater than ourselves.
Shinrin-Yoku expert Dr Qing Li encourages people to bring Nature into their homes so that they continue to receive these benefits from indoor plants and by diffusing essential oils which are the essence of a plant and hold many healing properties.
THE ART OF FOREST BATHING WORKSHOP
During this workshop I will first invite you to join me on a Forest Bathing experience at a nearby woodland. Here you will be encouraged to slow down and truly connect with your surroundings and invite Nature in through all of your senses to deeply receive its healing benefits. I will talk in more detail about our connection to Nature and the importance of it for our health and well-being. You will be able to tune into your body more and notice the wonderful impact the environment has on you.
Afterwards we will go inside and look at how to how to create a Forest Bathing experience in your home with indoor plants and essential oils. I will share some of the incredible benefits of using essential oils and the different ways in which you can use them. There will also be an opportunity to purchase oils if you wish but absolutely no obligation to buy.
